THANK YOU, FORT MCMURRAY COMPOSITE SCHOOL!

POSTED BY: admin   |  TAGS: 1/6/2012

Thank you, Fort McMurray Composite School! Last month, students at Fort McMurray Composite High School raised a grand total of $2850 for Gainline Africa programs in Gulu, northern Uganda…and they did it all in one day! The secondary students came together with their teacher, Mr. Sheldon Dahl, and held a one-day event to raise awareness in their community about Gainline Africa and the programming we have accomplished with youth in Gulu town.

“Through this project, we hope to encourage youth to become responsible and involved citizens who are confident in their ability to make positive contributions in the world around them," said Mr. Dahl. "We hope you will be interested in encouraging your child throughout this project.”

The whole team at Gainline Africa would like to thank all the efforts put forward by the students in Fort McMurray. We appreciate all your hard work and dedication!

This is just one way that supporters of Gainline Africa can help out. If you are interested in getting involved, or need some help setting up a fundraising event, feel free to contact the team! The possibilities are endless.

Amen to that! I think this is a major problem with aid the nthiking that Africa doesn't have it's own solutions. I am also a little disappointed that Kayongo, as a member of the Ugandan Diaspora doesn't realize that we have a thriving indigenous soap industry with Mukwano and Unilever being the big hitters in this arena.A better initiative in this case would be to convince to the hotels to source their soaps from Uganda, thus hiring loads more people, which in turn creates a local income generating sub-sector which is better able to buy soap and become a lot healthier. there's a direct corollary between wealth and hygiene. If people just started to think smarter about helping Africa, we'd all be better off!
